Inspiring Creativity thru Digital Activation
I am a designer at heart. But in my chosen field of work, I do not use a brush or watercolor but rather use lights, video and music as well as the worldwide web to showcase creativity.
Most of the consumers nowadays would rather participate, interact, do their own content. They are no longer satisfied with just being onlookers. They know they have the power and they use it.
My job on the other hand, is to make sure that I give the people a venue to really spark their creativity. A sand box so to speak to play on.
My claim to fame, If I may say is to create events, parties, activities, platforms that allow people to let their creativity flow.
On my most recent project consumers got the chance to have their photos with their friends. People voted online and thru mobile and then winning group’s photo will be printed on a limited edition cans. It was a very tedious undertaking but well worth it. We got more than 8,000 people join in the fun. 2.3M page views and all of this in a span of only 2 months and only on weekends. Beating last years’ award winning project wherein we challenged consumers to participate in our video booth and strut their stuff for 15 seconds of fame.
My Inspiration:
A team of dedicated accounts and creatives that put their hearts and passion to making sure that the campaigns of the brands that we work on truly allows consumers to have an engaging experience.
A lot of hard work, but in the end the most important would still be the great feeling that we have allowed people to discover themselves and let them know that it is ok to play and just be creative.

Ahhh, such a great post. It’s like listening to your heart’s passion to engage people to play and be creative. True, people are not satisfied anymore to be onlookers. They want to participate and be a part of the big picture and you guys make these pictures. You guys rock!

It’s great when you pull people out of their trusted environment. Most of the time they’re astonished with how creative they can be. They just didn’t know because they didn’t had the tools to be creative, you give them the tools… great!
More… more… more…

Misty … great post & @rdeal1, thanks for the twit post about it … My start-up is contracted with NASA to work on space missions. NASA is certainly a bunch of incredibly creative people. When I am on site, I see a lot of “we do it this way `cuz we’ve always done it this way” thinking. Sometimes is it necessary, but sometimes it is harmful. I know that NASA could benefit from a twitter-like platform as well as a ning-like platform … just something to stir some creativity to gets some fresh ideas about efficiency & innovation going. & then there’s the security thing … NASA is certainly gung-ho about security … so, the question is: How do you spark creativity, establish a path for communication & satisfy the security factor? Any thoughts would be fantastic…

I would like to thank Graham (@imjustcreative) for giving us so many mediums to tell others what opportunities are open for them.
Coffeetalkee, Cheth, RDeal1, Gissisim, Arnold, Phil. Social Media, Minervity (Richard), Adbert (Adria’n) Tom ..Appreciate your support and you guys have inspired me to do better in our choice of sandbox to play in..
Gregory Scharfstein to your question, How do we provide security.. That is a question worth asking, people have been so afraid to try out digital as a platform. But let me assure you that we on our end are developing and analyzing more ways to make it very secure for both our clients as well as the consumers. To date we have been successful. Will do a separate post on that soon and let you know.

Keep up the good work. =) its really fun being in the advertising industry especially if you’re doing guerilla or unconventional advertising. it squeezes out the creative juices in you thinking how to reach your target audience.
And knowing how time has changed the ad viewers, how they now look for something “new,” something innovative, something they can interact with, instead of the usual things they see on traditional media, instead of just telling them the message that “u need our product/service,” I must say you are doing a damn good job in digital activation… 2.3M viewers is one hella achievement for your creative team.
=)

An excellent article and a very interesting insight into the kind or work you do. I actually doubt that most people like to create and intereact online, my feeling is that the majority are still lurkers. You’re right; the more interactivity there is, the more interesting the whole online experience becomes.

Interaction and inclusion are key, even though people may feel like they are outside of their comfort zone initially, usually that changes soon afterwards.
Good for you, sounds like you’re in your element so just keep going : )
