Give me your Black and White Portrait Photos

Whilst changing the theme for WAJC to sit nicely with the recent new site design over at ImJustCreative, it occurred to me how cool the wide photo strips looked against the white background and the aqua green splash of colours.
Featured Nice Person
After asking Darren to send me a photo for the new Featured Creative, Geek or Nice Person slot on the home page, I thought how cool it would be to series a number of these black and white portrait photos for anyone who wants to submit them, just like a gallery.
Each Featured Nice Person will live on the Home Page for around a week, and will be included in a post. Once you are replaced by the next Nice Person, your pic will show up in the jQuery Slideshow for all to see. So you are never totally lost from the home page, just shuffled around a bit.
So here we are. If you have a portrait shot, that can be cropped or modified to fit into a letterbox size window, then send them over to me with a small 2-3 paragraph Bio as Darren has done on the current home page. Images should be 460px wide by 147px deep.
There is no deadline for this as I will put them up as and when I feel like it, have enough or whatever. Just thought it would be a cool thing to do.
Bonus for submitting - MonoExpression
If you do submit a photo then you are far more likely to be added to the ‘MonoExpression.com‘ gallery as well. The photos are key to this feature.
Monoexpression has proved to be very popular and is a neat way to have your portrait displayed in a very specific gallery.

How do I go about converting a color photo to black & white? Are there tutorials for these kinds of things?
